FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Is my data private? #
Yes. Everything in your workspace is yours alone — the companies you import or create, plus every note, rating, status, contact, document, and financial you add. No other user can see them, and isolation is enforced in the database itself, not just in the app.
What can a connected AI see and do? #
A connection runs as you, so it can only ever see your own data — never another user's. Both the browser connection (claude.ai) and a key only do what you deliberately allowed: you choose read-only or read-and-write when you connect claude.ai, and what to grant when you create a key. Delete is never available to the browser connection, only to a key you grant that access. SoloSearcher sends your data only to the AI you connected — what that assistant does with it afterward is governed by its own privacy terms, the same as anything else you show it.
How do I turn off an AI connection? #
Instantly: one click under Connected apps, or revoke a key under Active keys — both on the API Keys settings page. Access ends immediately.
How fresh is the data? #
The datasets you buy from us come from public PPP loan records, so the payroll anchor reflects what each company reported then — it's a durable snapshot of real businesses, not a live feed. Anything you add or correct on a company in your workspace is instant. See Understanding the data for the full method.
Which businesses are in the datasets you sell? #
The datasets we sell at data.solosearcher.com start from public PPP loan records — nearly ten million American businesses — but we deliberately don't include all of them. A majority of PPP borrowers were individuals: freelancers, contractors, gig workers. Real people, but not operating businesses a buyer could acquire.
A company makes the cut when any of three things is true: it has real staff (three or more employees), its estimated owner earnings clear $50k a year, or it's a professional practice — medical, dental, legal, accounting, insurance, financial advisory — which we include all the way down to solo, because books of business are genuinely bought and sold. The result is a dataset of businesses someone could actually buy, not a phone book. See Understanding the data for how the estimates behind that screen are built.
Can I export my data? #
There's no bulk export button yet. In the meantime, a connected AI can read anything you can see and assemble it however you like — and if you need a full export, email us and we'll get it to you.
How do I get access? #
Start with a 14-day trial — no card required — from the SoloSearcher sign-up page.
